"Ritual", 2013, by Marc Salz, oil/gessoed ragboard, 22"-17.5". This is the first of nine of my paintings  that were done during the last two years in my former studio. Please click on each of these photos to enlarge them and scroll down for more. The painting is part of my series "Songs of the Earth". The title is taken from Gustav Mahler's song cycle "Song of the Earth".  In the beginning of the cycle a voice emerges only to slowly sink back into the earth for the last song.  The series follows my previous "Deluge" series. After the flood, a longing for the earth.
